The Weekend & Life Lessons

Ebisu is one of seven lucky Japanese gods: he’s the god of good fortune, the ocean, and is also the deity of honest labor. He’s one of the many exhibits I found when we went to the Trammell & Margaret Crow Asian Art Museum in Dallas. We had a great afternoon looking at the collection of Asian art. I was fascinated by U-Ram Choe’s new media exhibit. Check this out! This is so amazing. His latest work on display is a collection of large-scale electronic species.

He has created the future. This one above is Urbanus male. Other creations include a light fixture that mocks street lights. It drains their energy to function. It is really incredible.
The rest of the weekend we relaxed. Yesterday was a long day at work. But you know, with every event, there is a lesson learned. I believe the best one so far is on patience. And I can’t say any one thing has triggered that. It’s been a series of things that have ultimately slapped me upside the head and said — umm, yes, this is what you are to learn. Some patience god somewhere is asking why it’s taken me so long to get the hint.
That lesson is more of a life learning experience. But I belive right now I am trying to master professional lessons: becoming proficient with how I deliver, my speaking skills, and being calm in any situation. That’s when I have control — when I’m calm.
Along with patience, I also want to really focus on being happy. I think that generally speaking, people experience life and its many wonders. Yet, happiness is not always present in every situation. I didn’t think I was happy for a long time. I think I am, but being content is so important, especially when you think you’re barely getting through. I think too often I really let my emotions rule me. That’s when I snap and fire back at work situations and other people, instead of collecting the information, analyzing it, and then processing it outwardly in a positive manner. That’s so hard to do.
So focus is key. I just hope I have the right one to open the door of happiness and lessons learned when a chaotic life experience happens.

I’ve Got a Brand New Girlfriend
If you haven’t heard it yet, I’m sorry. So tune your dial to your nearest country radio station. And man, what a song!
Steve Holy does a fantastic job with this song. He not only sings this song, but you can just feel the energy and exciting vibe from him about getting a new girlfriend. Either he’s a great actor (acting through his lyrics) or he actually did get a new girlfriend. Either way (I can’t speak for girls), but I know guys get goofy and giddy when it comes to a new love. This song perfectly portrays that sort of feeling.
I have felt the feeling before, and I had it on my wedding day (allbeit it was a little subdued thanks to a local bartender the night before…nevertheless, still a wonderful feeling!)
Here’s a sample of the chorus. Check this out today! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANETTE!!!!
—-
i got a brand new girlfriend.
we went and jumped off the deep end,
flew out to LA for the weekend,
spent the whole day, lyin’ on the beach,
wearin’ nothin’ but a smile,
playin’ kissy-kissy, smoochy-smoochy,
talkin’ mooshy-mooshy bout nothin’.
man, i think im on to somethin’,
yano i feel just like a kid again.
i got a brand new girlfriend.

Cone Head

Walking around at Lowe’s, I ran into possibly one of the trendiest pieces of cleaning products: the Cone by Dirt Devil. Can you even begin to imagine how great something like this is? Ok, so I’m not the vacuum cleaner enthusiast that this one kid is (he was on Jay Leno), but I do have my interest in the cleaning field. Yes, a handy dandy instrument like this could be suitable for any small dirt emergency (and with two dogs, we have those sometimes!)
I believe I may save my pennies and see about a purchase some day! I wouldn’t mind being a cone head
I’ll just have to do a little research first and see which one is best for me and my little family.
